    Why Apple Needs iPhone SE

Apple recently announced a red iPhone while I don’t consider this a major announcement by Apple I find that another announcement made a little over a year ago would be a shocking game changer a year later. On March 21, 2016, Apple unveiled the iPhone SE and began shipping them on March 31, 2016. When the iPhone SE was first announced, I did not find this to be a big deal. I remember telling my friend and I quote “So now Apple making the iPhone as small as they used to I guess they ran out of ideas after making them bigger.” Little did I know that those words would be so untrue. The iPhone SE was a major game changer for Apple while I myself have an iPhone 6 Plus the iPhone SE started finding a home with a new crowd. I started to notice the iPhone SE showing up at a business that used to run Android. When I asked around the consensus from businesses I was getting was why buy an Android when an iPhone is the same price. The iPhone SE is priced at $399 for the 32GB model and then jumps to $499 for the 128GB version. The iPhone SE meets almost all the same specs as the iPhone 6s except for a smaller screen with less resolution, 3D Touch, less resolution facetime camera and few other smaller items this is done I believe in keeping cost down. The price point of the iPhone SE nipples away at the Moto X and Nexus price that was very attractive to businesses. Since Apple in generally held as let’s say the Cadillac of phones the attitude from business users which are general your iPhone users is “just get the iPhone for the same price”. The other appealing...

Apple iPod Started The Podcast Business

I am a big podcast listener some people binge on YouTube and Netflix videos I binge listen to podcasts. There is a huge call for on-demand audio like podcasts in the dying age of radio. Before DVR boxes and on-demand video like streaming, there was an on-demand audio called podcasts. When Apple introduced podcasts in 2004, the iPod changed the music industry a small device that could fit in your pocket and iTunes store allowed you to download any song you wanted at any time starting the instant gratification of music. No need to go to your local store and buy CDS when you can just download a small MP3 file and place it onto a small device that holds thousands of songs and fits in your pocket. Since there was no cellular data yet to get a music or podcasts to your iPod you had to be plugged into a computer, open iTunes then music and podcasts had to sync over to the device via a cable. It was the start of a revolution in the on-demand radio industry that we call podcasts. The word podcast is a combination of the word iPod and broadcast a term developed by a journalist. Originally the word was audio blogging which lacked the cool hip feel that the broadcaster and Apple were going for so the name was changed to Podcast. Companies like TWIT one of the first podcasts available on iTunes calls them netcasts to get away from the assumption you need an Apple device to listen to the broadcast. Podcasts are basically MP3 files that can be played by any music device, not just an iPod or iPhone. At the time the iPod was really the only mobile music player available and now there are many. When the iPhone was released...

Moving From An iPhone To Galaxy S7

I recently decided to look at my aging iPhone 6 and after checking the website for my carrier seeing of I was eligible for an upgrade I decided to buy a new phone. After checking online I liked the fact that the Galaxy S7 was waterproof and offered a headphone jack still. I know there has been lots of controversy over the whole iPhone headphone jack which for me was not a breaking point in my decision to go Android but was a plus I like my headphone jack without an extra cable needed. The first very attractive part of the Galaxy S7 was the screen 5.1in Super AMOLED 2560×1440 pixels (QHD), 577ppi compared to iPhone 7 which has 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch 3D Touch, 1334×750 and 1920×1080 pixel resolutions. When using the Galaxy S7 I felt that the videos were much clearer than on the iPhone do to the higher resolution. The next thing I looked at was the processor specs for both phones. The Galaxy S7 has Qualcomm Snapdragon 820/Samsung Exynos 8890 processor (region dependent), 4GB RAM where the iPhone has a A10 Fusion processor, 3GB RAM. Apple should have learned from the Macintosh you can never have too much RAM. The cameras are where Apple really shines. The one rear camera on the Galaxy S7 is only 12.2MP, f/1.7 aperture, 1.4um pixels, dual-pixel with 100% phase detection sensor. The iPhone 7 has Dual-lens 12MP – telephoto and wide-angle (for the Plus model), 4K video recording, optical image stabilization, /1.8 aperture, new 6-element lens, new image signal processor, quad-LED flash with flicker sensor. The front camera on the Galaxy S7 is 5MP where the iPhones is 7MP. Apple completely dominates on the camera front and back. The storage piece is kind different Apple does not allow for external storage...

  • U.S. company Apple and its Asian suppliers are testing enhanced screens for smartphones and tablets iPhone iPad, according to the publication The Wall Street Journal. The company decided to take this experiment because of the high competition in the mobile market. A few months ago, Apple has ordered screen prototypes for a smartphone and a tablet from Asian counterparties which are more than 4 and less than 14 inches in diagonal, respectively, according to Asian suppliers of the company. It is clearly a more current screen size that Apple gadgets have nowadays: iPhone 5 has 4 inches diagonal, iPad – 9,7 inches, and iPad Mini – 7,9 inch. It is unknown there will be gadgets with larger displays or not on the market: Apple regularly tests different designs of its products during development. Last year the corporation has already shown results of such experiments, releasing the iPhone 5 with enlarged display and a mini-version of the tablet iPad. Experimenting with display sizes of their tablets and smartphones, Apple is searching for recourses to answer the different needs of customers. The competition in the mobile market encourages the company to expand the proposal. Other producers, including the South Korean company Samsung, have been producing electronic gadgets of all sizes for a long time. In particular, smartphones with screen sizes of more than 5 inches or phablets , which are hybrids smartphone and tablet , are the most popular between users today. One of the most popular gadgets of this format is the smartphone Samsung Galaxy Note, the latest version of a diagonal of 5.3 inches. Because of this strategy, Samsung has managed to get ahead of Apple in the smartphone market. According to research firm Strategy Analytics, in the first quarter of 2013, Samsung was the leading smartphone manufacturer with 33.1%...

    Apple Releases iOS 6.1.3

Apple released iOS 6.1.3 Tuesday, a software update that makes improvements to Maps in Japan and, more importantly, fixes a bug in iOS that allowed someone to bypass the lock screen on an iPhone and access the phone app. Discovered late last month, the iOS vulnerability involved manipulating the iPhone’s emergency call functionality and power button to gain access to the phone. Specifically, someone would start to make an emergency call, and cancel it while toggling the phone’s on/off switch. Doing so would grant that person temporary access to the phone. Read Full Article
