Apple Earnings Fall Flat As Expected

Apple released their earnings report and while the company did not do the stellar numbers they always do the numbers are still impressive to say the least. Apple CEO Tim Cook stated in the earnings report “While it was disappointing to miss our revenue guidance, we manage Apple for the long term, and this quarter’s results demonstrate that the underlying strength of our business runs deep and wide, Our active installed base of devices reached an all-time high of 1.4 billion in the first quarter, growing in each of our geographic segments. That’s a great testament to the satisfaction and loyalty of our customers, and it’s driving our Services business to new records thanks to our large and fast-growing ecosystem.” As expected iPhone revenue declined by 15 percent from the prior year to me this big because this is the holiday quarter meaning fewer people wanted a new iPhone for the holidays but it is important to point out this is an iPhone S year. Total revenue from all other products and services grew 19 percent and services revenue reached an all-time high of $10.9 billion, up 19 percent over the prior year. Apple Music has been growing by leaps and bounds. This year Apple partnered with carriers and other companies like Amazon to bring Apple music to the world. This number does not surprise me Apple is heading in the right direction. Revenue from the Mac, iWatch, AirPods, HomePod, and Accessories also reached all-time highs, growing 9 percent and 33 percent, respectively, and revenue from iPad® grew 17 percent. I would like to point out here that Apple did up their prices on all hardware that might be a reason for this growth. But I will say I see a lot of people with Apple Watches as well. A...

  • While online video services and original series go hand and hand on the internet these days there are still differences in the way online services are handled by different services. To start out with is release schedules are different depending on the service you are using to start with networks like HBO, CBS, FX and others with a channel release shows on a weekly schedule since they air the shows on the network then offer them on demand afterward online. Service like Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, and Amazon Prime that offer online original content with no network have options for how they can release content. Netflix chooses to release all content at once so people can watch all episodes at their leisure or watch the entire series all at once. Netflix is the service that coined the term binge watching. Amazon Prime tapes pilots of shows then release them for free to everyone to vote on. Then the series that win the voting get released exclusively on Amazon Prime and Amazon Prime Video. Amazon has a little advantage here while many people get the service because they have prime some 7 million people subscribe just for the video streaming service itself. YouTube does a similar thing like Amazon Prime they release the entire series all at once but only the first episode is free on YouTube the rest of the series is available only if you subscribe to YouTube Premium (YouTube Red). YouTube has a little advantage over other services since YouTube Premium offers music, commercial-free YouTube viewing and better YouTube viewing experience on mobile. Users who subscribe to YouTube Premium get more than just series which is a large reason why they are getting lots of new YouTube Premium subscribers. Hulu is kind of doing its own thing releasing originals...

    EHS Programs When Utilized Right

Back in the old days, the internet was one of the most awesome things ever discovered. Before its advent, interests for personal computers and cell phones were not so common. Now, almost everyone has it, for ordinary citizens to keep up with life and catch up with technology, and for businesses not just to keep up with competition but also to experience its benefits. Nothing justifies better than all the benefits business software can provide. Hence, over the years, we have seen a lot of businesses already unafraid to invest in various systems for a business, e.g. POS software, Accounting and Bookkeeping Software, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software, and of course, who can’t say yes to Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Software. The EHS of Today Environment, Health, and Safety or EHS is a general terminology that basically refers to the rules, laws, regulations, and programs required to be implemented in a workplace to support the law of protecting the health and safety not just of every employee but also the public. It also covers the ABCs of environmental hazard reduction and management. Companies nowadays make use of different platforms to better implement EHS Programs and address EHS concerns: The Use of BBS Different methods have been introduced to better implement every aspect of EHS. One of these is behavioural safety – a method designed to change safety behaviour of all employees with a vision of having less to zero injuries or incidents going down in a company. Records show that averagely, businesses that practiced BBS or behavioural-based safety for one year attained a better rate in terms of average injury counts, specifically realizing a decrease of 29%. It was projected, consequently, that after five years of using BBS, the reduction rate would likely reduce by 72 per cent, and...

This ability to save your document to the cloud directly from Word, Excel, or PowerPoint will roll out to Office 365 on Windows and Mac beginning in February.” “These features, along with OneDrive Files On-Demand for Mac, are part of our investments in making it easier for you to get your files into the cloud. • Target, Taco Bell, Hy-Vee supermarkets in the Midwest, Speedway convenience stores and Jack in the Box are the latest merchants to support Apple Pay, the most popular mobile contactless payment system in the world that lets customers easily and securely pay in stores using their iPhone and Apple Watch. With the addition of these national retailers, 74 of the top 100 merchants in the US and 65 percent of all retail locations across the country will support Apple Pay. “Whether customers are buying everyday household items, groceries, snacks for a road trip or grabbing a quick meal, Apple Pay is the easiest way to pay in stores, while also being secure and faster than using a credit or debit card at the register,” said Jennifer Bailey, Apple’s vice president of Internet Services. “We’re thrilled even more customers will be able to pay at their favorite stores and restaurants using the Apple devices that are always with them.” Apple Pay is rolling out now in Target stores and will be available in all 1,850 locations across the US in the coming weeks. Customers can use Apple Pay today at more than 245 Hy-Vee stores in the Midwest and inside the store at all of Speedway’s approximately 3,000 locations across the Midwest, East Coast and Southeast. Apple Pay is also rolling out to more than 7,000 Taco Bell and 2,200 Jack in the Box locations in the next few months. These top merchants join other national retailers that already support Apple Pay. In 2018, Costco completed the rollout of Apple Pay to over 500 US warehouses and CVS Pharmacy introduced Apple Pay at all of its nearly 8,400 stand-alone locations. 7-Eleven launched Apple Pay at 95 percent of its US stores last year.  Via Apple

Office 365 Now On The Mac App Store

Microsoft Office 365 after long last is now available in the Mac App Store. Mac users can download the entire Office suite including full installs of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, and OneDrive. While Microsoft Office 365 has been available for the Mac via Microsoft website only some of the apps were available directly from the Mac App Store. One big change going forward will be Office 365 updates. Those who download Office 365 via the app store will receive updates the apps via the App Store. This is a significant change since the updating experience for Office apps has been through Microsoft proprietary update software on the Mac. Getting updates via the App Store should make the process much smoother for users. Microsoft and Apple both had a press release that quoted Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing “We are excited to welcome Microsoft Office 365 to the all new Mac App Store in macOS Mojave. Apple and Microsoft have worked together to bring great Office productivity to Mac users from the very beginning. Now, with Office 365 on the Mac App Store, it’s easier than ever to get the latest and best version of Office 365 for Mac, iPad, and iPhone.”
  • The phrase “digital marketing” is everywhere, but exactly what does the term mean, and what are its implications for you and your small business? The truth is, this type of marketing is extremely important in today’s business world, and you may want to consider outsourcing it to a digital marketing agency. Digital marketing defined Digital marketing can loosely be defined as using the Internet to promote a brand. While the definition of digital marketing also includes strategies such as using digital billboards and any other types of digital devices, the engine of any digital marketing campaign is the Internet. Using email allows you to target people who may be interested in your products and services or keep in close contact with those who already are. Building a social media presence allows you to get the word out about who you are and what you are selling on platforms like Facebook and Instagram and hopefully start an online conversation that leads to a good buzz. Services such as Google AdWords use sophisticated algorithms to put advertising in front of the population that is interested no matter how small that group may be. Are you selling replacement parts for chainsaws? A digital marketing agency can make people online who are looking for those parts aware of your website. Additionally, re-targeting allows you to keep in touch with those same visitors after they have left your site. With any digital marketing, the goal is to grab the attention of the user quickly. People won’t wait for a slow website to download, and they aren’t going to wade through content that’s poorly organized and densely written. A strong online campaign contains clear calls to action. If you want to sell bus tickets, for example, there can be links all through your digital presence that...
