Microsoft revealed earlier this week that the company is recalling a number of power cords following overheating concerns. If you bought a Surface Pro, Surface Pro 2, or Surface Pro 3 in the US or Canada before March 15th then you can apply now for a free cord replacement. If you purchased a device outside of the US or Canada before July 15th then it’s also affected by the recall.
Microsoft AC power cord recall for Surface Pro, Surface Pro 2, and certain Surface Pro 3 devices. Microsoft’s latest Surface Pro 4 is unaffected. Microsoft only is replacing the AC power cord the removable cord that connects the power supply to an electrical outlet. Do not send power bricks themselves they are not being recalled.
