  • A significant portion of our lives now revolves around the internet. And for those who use the internet to promote their brand, put up videos, craft social media profiles, or run a business, it is even more important to ensure that data is being managed and archived appropriately. Even if some of that data seems irrelevant to you right now, there is a good chance you will need to see that data for some reason or another in the near future. That is why it is important to figure out the best method for backing up and preserving your data forever. Data Archiving Options There are two major choices that you have to decide between when you are deciding to archive a large chunk of data. You will either complete this process using physical media, or you will do everything on the cloud. If you are going with the physical option, here are some choices that you may want to know about. Optical Disks: When using writable CDs, DVDs or Blu-Rays, you have the chance to get a large amount of data in physical form in quick time. If you are storing pictures or regular files, DVDs seem the best bet, as you are getting close to 5GB worth of space on a single disk. If you are going with video files, or other types of files that have very large sizes, you may want to go with a Blu-Ray. With a Blu-Ray, you get up to 25GB of space, which is a significant amount. Hard Drives: If you want almost all your data in one physical place, then a hard drive is the way to go. It is inexpensive to buy quality external hard drives, and you can choose between 1 to 4 TB in file space. We recommend...
  • What happens if you accidentally just dropped your mobile device in water? You may be panicking and wondering if there’s anything that you can do to save it? Just so you know, there are actually a lot of things you can still do to save your mobile device after it comes in contact with water. Here are some tips on how to save your device if you accidentally dropped it in water. Take it out of the water asap! Once you dropped it in water, get your phone out of there as fast as you can! Don’t turn it on! No matter what happens, don’t you dare try to turn your phone on after the accident. Stop your urge to check if it’s still working. Pop the battery off its back. The next thing to do is to remove the device’s battery (if possible), to avoid a short circuit. Remove its protective case. If you are using a protective case for your phone, then you should remove it and let it dry too. Afterwards, never shake or rock your phone. This is to prevent water from running inside your device’s internals. Remove all the removable parts and accessories. Take out your SIM cards and memory card (if you have one) from your phone and let them dry too, just to make sure. Take the back cover off your device to help with the drying process of your phone. Use dry cloth or towel to dry your device. Use a dry cloth or a towel to dry the outside parts of your phone. DON’T use a blower. Blowing air into your phone can actually help spread water or moisture inside your phone. While you think it may help your phone dry, using blowers can actually make the situation become more complicated....
  • Buying a router can be a confusing process, even for long-time users. The constantly shifting shape of the market combined with a few less than helpful advertising schemes can leave users wondering – what is it that I really need, and how much of a difference is there between the different products? Wi-Fi routers run the range from hundreds of dollars to thousands, and ending up with the wrong one can leave you with wasted money, or a product which does not perform as you demand. What if you are somebody who already knows what you need, but you are unsure about what products are currently on the market? We’ll lay things out in a way that, hopefully, makes sense to you. So, what is it that you, as a user, really need to keep in mind when you purchase your next router? Here we hope to clarify a few common issues, to help you end up with a product which is right for you. Usage Before we start looking into the specifics we need to take into account the purpose of the device. Are you a larger company, looking to offer Wi-Fi to hundreds of users, or are you a single person who just wants to be able to use the internet anywhere in your house? As is typical with electronic devices – the less you demand from your router the less you will have to spend. For a single person or a couple of less demanding people, the lower end of routers will likely meet all of your requirements. This means you won’t have to break the bank in buying one of the more intimidating options out there. Don’t just run out and get one just yet though, as you will also have to keep in mind… Range...
  • If you are in the market for a new phone, you might have considered getting one among high end models recently unveiled. There are many options in this segment including the iPhone 8 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. Considering the two mentioned, you might need to look deeper into the features of both phones to arrive at a conclusion, but this is not a difficult decision if you consider features like the camera. Noelle Neff, a writer and tech enthusiast who has helped review different phones also has something to say about the camera options between the iPhone X and Note 8. This is a tight battle that reveals the positives of each model, so if you want to choose based on this criterion then pay attention. Sensors According to Apple, the iPhone 8 Plus comes with sensors which are physically bigger than previous models. But this information is not highlighted in the EXIF data. The camera of the iPhone 8 features a 28 mm lens that has a 3.99mm focal length as well as a fixed f/1.8 aperture. Its 2x lens is 6mm and offers f/2.8, but the reason its values are low is because this is a secondary sensor that is smaller than the primary. Its main lens relies on a 1/3-inch chip with the 2x sensor taking a 1/3.6-inch design. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 features a 4.3mm f/1.7 lens that works with its wide-angle camera. Its focal length is wider and has a wider field of view due to its main sensor that includes a 1/2.55-inch design. The second lens of the camera is a bit tighter. That means the main camera of the Note 8 offers a wider aperture. One advantage the Note 8 enjoys is that it comes with...

    The future of VR Explained

Over the past year or so, the introduction of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality has really set the precedent for the future of technology. These devices are taking the gaming and entertainment world by storm, but it’s been predicted that this technology is also going to intercept our everyday lives and redefine business models. The introduction of the Playstation and Samsung headsets has seen popularity soar for this technology, but it has been predicted that this kind of technology will be integrated into our everyday routine within the next 10 years. The commercial potential for this technology has made everyday assimilation even more of a reality and this push within the next few years, despite this the success of this technology is only at the very conception of its journey. Virtual Reality: the new computing platform As mentioned previously, the introduction of gaming VR and AR headsets has been one of the main focuses in order to commercialise the technology and integrate it into everyday life, but Mark Zuckerberg has predicted that there is potential for this technology to completely re-establish the way business is conducted. He believes that this technology could be the platform for business and computing, and that there could be a push to include VR and AR in employee training and even the way business meetings are conducted. In order to accept this new strategy, we need to collectively break out of the traditional convention of business and allow for trial and error along the way. Technology on the incline: Zuckerberg also believes that within 10 years, VR and AR will be fully assimilated into our everyday lives. In order to gain more traction in markets other than gaming and entertainment, companies need to channel their app development to discover new and interesting ways to assimilate...
  • What’s the Best Wireless Microphone System? The key piece of equipment for any dynamic live performance is the wireless microphone system. If you’re a performer who needs the freedom to move, you don’t want to get tangled up in a microphone cable and have to worry about dragging a heavy stand around the stage. That’s where the wireless microphone system comes in. By going wireless, musicians, actors, and public speakers can give a more flexible and animated performance without being confined to a single area, while still having their voice projected loudly to the entire audience. If you are performing a play, for instance, wireless microphones are especially essential, as they can easily be hidden without sacrificing vocal quality. Many wireless microphone systems also can control their broadcasted frequency, so that interference from other electronic devices is minimized.  In fact, the best wireless microphone systems can equal or even surpass the audio quality generated by more ungainly wired systems. Benefits of Using a Wireless Microphone System The biggest advantage of any wireless microphone system is undoubtedly freedom of movement. What artist wants to be constantly thinking about tripping over a snaky microphone cable? Wireless microphone systems allow a performer the entire reign of the stage and must be the go-to solution for creating any dynamic performance. Wireless microphone systems also present a cleaner look on stage. Can you imagine watching a play in which the actor is constantly having to bat a microphone cable out of his face or to try to mask a dangling cord? Wireless microphones can easily be concealed in an actor’s clothing to give the illusion that the actor is projecting naturally to the audience. Other public speakers or musicians may also want the advantage of performing without the distraction of extra cords dangling from their bodies. When it comes...

DJI Spark Drone Gesture Control Update

Since its launch in May of this year the DJI Spark Drone has become the must have video drone.  It may not be the smallest drone on the market but at seven and a half inches from rotor to rotor it’s a highly portable bit of kit.  What makes it special of course is its innovative use of gesture control. Launch it from the palm of your hand and it will hover three feet above the ground.  Hold the palm of your hand up and the drone will follow it.  Wave your hand and the drone will soar to thirty feet.  Make a square with your thumb and forefinger and it will take your photo and the new firmware update now allows you to stop and start recording with a wave of your arm. Gesture control for apps and gaming The gesture control world of Minority Report is getting closer every day.  Nintendo began development of their ground-breaking Wii controller way back in 2001 and since then gesture control has moved slowly but surely into the mainstream.  The partypoker mobile app is an interesting example of gesture control being used in a natural and intuitive way rather than just as a gimmicky bolt-on.  The poker app enables you to discard cards or place bets with gestures appropriate to the game.  This approach is now being echoed by a range of games developers: Horn is a third person adventure game in which all the action is controlled by touch and gesture. Source: partypoker Android apps such as ‘Side Control’ enable you to create a specific gesture for a particular task, likewise, iGest Gesture Launcher enables you to create a gesture and associate it with an action. Car manufacturers are continuing to experiment and implement gesture control Major car manufacturers have been...
