Windows Operating System, Developed by Microsoft is one of the most used operating systems from its very first day to its latest version release, i.e. Windows 10. After it was first launched, Windows not only became a major and most successful product of Microsoft, but it also plays a significant role in making Microsoft a billion-dollar company in just a couple of years.

Earlier a new version of Windows would launch in years but time has changed now. With Windows 10, you may see the latest updates in just months and sometimes even in weeks. This is all the part of the change in strategy which Microsoft is following not only to get their faded shine but also to grab more user base from Macintosh.

However, the interesting part is, the shift in strategy is working – Microsoft is not only making more money than ever before, but they are also able to grab over 700 million Windows 10 users successfully. In a press release, the chief executing officer of Microsoft Satya Nadella said: “We had an incredible year, surpassing $100 billion in revenue as a result of our teams’ relentless focus on customer success and the trust customers are placing in Microsoft. These are all the right signs and gave an assurance that the company is on the right path.

But with every new windows version or a new update, there comes some problems and issues which leave the user frustrated. Hence today to solve this problem or at least minimize it to an extent, in this article, we’re going to talk about the Different Windows 10 issues and their solutions. So, let’s dive into it without any due.

Problem 01: Not able to install Windows update on Windows 10.

Solution 01: This problem might occur when your windows update file gets corrupted. Removing these corrupted files can solve the issue.

  1. Press Win+R keys to open the Run dialog
  2. Type “C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download” and press OK
  3. Open file explorer and delete all the files/folders in this directory
  4. If in case you are not able to delete these files, do it in safe mode.
  5. Restart your PC and that’s it. Problem solved.

Problem 02: Windows 10 sound not working after installing updates.

Solution 02: Sometimes, there might be some issue with sounds in windows 10 after installing the latest update like the sound is not working and all. This can be easily solved by the following method.

  1. Open Device Manager
  2. Right-click (or press and hold) your audio driver and update your driver software. If this still not works then follow the next step.
  3. Browse my computer for driver software > Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer, select High Definition Audio Device, select Next, and follow the instructions to install it.

Problem 03: Not able to install or update apps in Windows 10 store.

Solution 03: Excessive cache files that clutter up your system is the reason behind this error and can be solved easily by removing those cached files, which can be done by following these steps:

  1. Press Win+R keys to open the Run dialog.
  2. Type “WSReset.exe” and click OK.
  3. A blank, black window will appear that will auto-close after some time.
  4. That’s it. Done. Try to install apps now.

Problem 04:  Not able to find ‘Open with’ in Windows 10.

Solution 04: This problem arises due to some missing or corrupted system files or configuration settings and can be easily fixed by following these steps:

  1. Open the Notepad and type the following in it.

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\Openwith]@=”{09799AFB-AD67-11d1-ABCD-00C04FC30936}”

  1. Save the file and type “Openwith.reg” as filename and choose ‘All files’ and click OK.
  2. After this, Close Notepad and double-click on this file to open
  3. Press Yes in the confirmation dialog and you have solved the issue successfully.

Problem 05: Not able to Login Automatically using Microsoft Account.

Solution 05: By default, the Logging in automatically feature using the Microsoft account comes disabled in Windows 10, you have to enable this feature, follow these steps to do so:

  1. Press Win+R keys to open the Run dialog
  2. Type in “netplwiz” and press OK.
  3. A window will be opened, click on the account for which you want to enable ‘automatic login’.
  4. Uncheck (or untick) the option ‘Users must enter a username and password to use this computer’ and click OK.
  5. Enter that account’s password twice in the new dialog, and click OK to enable automatic login.

Problem 06: Not able to search any files or application on windows search.

Solution 06: Follow the process below to solve the issue in just some easy steps

  1. Click Ctrl+Alt+Del and choose ‘Task Manager’
  2. End the process ‘Explorer.exe’
  3. Press Win+R to open the Run dialog
  4. Type “regedit” and press Enter
  5. In the registry editor, delete the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderTypes\{ef87b4cb-f2ce-4785-8658-4ca6c63e38c6}\TopViews\{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}

  1. Now go once again in the Task Manager, go to File -> Run new task
  2. Type in “explorer.exe” and press OK
  3. If  you’re still facing the issue then try these steps also:
  4. Press Win+X and choose ‘Command Prompt (Admin)’
  5. Type “start powershell” and hit Enter
  6. Run the following command there:

Get-AppXPackage -Name Microsoft.Windows.Cortana | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

Problem 07: Losing Battery Too Quickly

Solution 07: Draining up battery too fast can be really annoying but that to windows update as now you can put a control the amount of battery each app can use. To enable this feature, press Windows Key + I and then go to Update & security > Windows Update > Advanced options > Choose how updates are delivered and move the switch to Off.

You can also turn of the Cortana by saying Hey Cortana to Off if you want to save even more power.

Problem 08: Not having all the programs in the start menu.

Solution 08: If you are unable to see all of your installed programs or application in the start menu then you can easily fix this also. Just click the on the search bar and type “powershell”. Then, enter “Get-StartApps | measure”. This will show you how many Start menu apps you have. If it’s more than 512, you might not see all of them but if it is less than that, you will be seeing all of them now.
