So now that the holidays are over we have all gotten back into our regular routine again. The kids are back to school and you are commuting to work. One of the things that helps me through all my travels, business or pleasure is podcasts. There about 250,000 podcasts on iTunes that are listened to on daily basis here are my top five.

First Ring Daily

First Ring Daily would probably be my pick for the number one podcast I listen to on iTunes. Paul Thurrott and Brad Sams do a great job reporting the tech news of the week. First Ring Daily is released every Friday for free on iTunes. They offer a daily podcast with a yearly or monthly subscription to their site Thurrott.com if you are looking for the best tech news reporting this is the show for you.

The Best of Compound Media

Anthony Cumia from the Opie and Anthony show started his own podcast network after being fired from SiriusXM. Every Friday he releases the best of the week which is the best clips from the week on the network free on iTunes. If you would like more content you can subscribe monthly or yearly and get 4 to 8 hours of content a day from all different shows on the network which is available through their app or premium feeds.

Ace On The House

Adam Carolla, the man with the most listen to daily podcast on iTunes does an awesome home improvement podcast every week with his buddy Ray. They answer your calls, emails and video questions on home repair. The show offers great content where you learn a lot about home repair every week. The most recent 8 episodes are free on iTunes if you want access to show archives you will need a PodcastOne Subscription that you pay for monthly or yearly.

Grawlix Podcast

The Grawlix Podcast is a monthly comic book show where the hosts Jesse, Randy and Melonie review the comic book news of the month, talk about comic book shows and movies then review a comic voted on by the guests. The show has a very fun laid back atmosphere with a lot of great comic book content. This podcast is essential listening for any comic fan. The podcast is 100 percent free on iTunes.

Untitled The Adam Savage Project

If you are a geek who likes to build things whether it’s out of wood, Legos or metal this is the podcast for you. Adam Savage from Mythbusters started his own online site called tested.com and branched off into podcast and YouTube. Every podcast he runs you through his geek ideas and threw projects he is working on if you’re a geek this is required listening,

There are other podcasts I listen to regularly anything on the Twit network (Windows Weekly, This Week in Google, Security Now, Macbreak Weekly) are great to listen to when I am trying to catch up on tech or major vendor events (WWDC, Windows Ignite etc). When I am in the mood to hear wrestling news I tune into the Pro wrestling Iowa Podcast to catch up on WWE. If I am looking to find a good book to read I will tune into The Book vs Movie Podcast to hear their book suggestions.

Some other shows I will listen to if there is a guest I really want to hear is the Adam Carolla Show, Steve Austin Show, Talk Is Jericho, The Survival Podcast, and Bill Burr The Monday Morning Show.

Podcasts are a great way to make the time in a car, cleaning or exercising go by fast and there free. So start listening to podcasts today.
