I decided today to upgrade my Windows 8.1 Microsoft Surface Gen 3 to Windows 10. I decided to document the process to this upgrade.

The first thing I did was click the little Windows 10 bug in the right had corner system tray

I then went threw the screen to upgrade after sitting looking at this screen for over an hour

on a 100 meg connection this should have never taken an hour so I decided to go to Microsoft’s ISO site and download and install Windows 10 manually.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/software-download/windows10

After you download the tool a screen comes up asking if you want to upgrade this PC or create ISO I clicked on upgrade this PC.

Then it starts downloading Windows 10

The next step it will start and say Creating Windows 10 Media

I would say my overall experience upgrading was fine. I was kind shocked when the Windows bug gave me a hard time but I just went the manual route. The Surface Pro is a Microsoft product so I expected the upgrade to go smooth but that is not always the case with Microsoft products. Overall good upgrade experience.
