According to a forum post on Blizzard and subreddit Blizzard (owned by Microsoft), has quietly put the original Warcraft 3 back on Battle.net. The game was removed six years ago to make way for Warcraft III: Reforged. The real-time strategy game Warcraft 3: Legacy is now available as version 1.29 to all Warcraft 3 account holders via Battle.net. The game is only for offline and LAN play at the moment no timeline for restoring online multiplayer support was given.

When Reforged launched in January 2020, it replaced the original client and changed parts of the experience. Not everyone liked those changes. Some players wanted a way to go back to the older version. Players who owned Warcraft 3 before 2020 were upset to find themselves locked into a remaster they didn’t want.

Six years later, players can now go back. The legacy version lets players enjoy Warcraft III as it was before Reforged. This is great for people who play custom maps, create mods, or just want the original gameplay.

It is a small update, but for longtime fans, it matters a lot. This might be part of Microsoft’s promise to rebuild trust with consumers and the gaming community, even though Microsoft did not own Blizzard at the time.
