The start of a new era of Halo is on its way as the PlayStation version of Halo is showing up on GameStop and PlayStation.com. Halo is moving to the Unreal Engine and moving away from its proprietary engine Blam! Engine (or simply the Halo Engine) was originally built by Bungie. The move to the Unreal Engine is an effort to make Halo cross-compatible across multiple platforms, bringing Halo to PlayStation and eventually Nintendo.

In a Reddit post spotted by Windows Central, one user uploaded a photo of the box in their local store, noting that it’s “still very insane to see”.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is set to release this year on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, and PlayStation 5. Anyone who is a long-time Halo fan knows that it’s strange to see the long-time Halo exclusive and the flagship Xbox game coming to other platforms. Halo is the franchise that helped kickstart Xbox, and is now expanding to PlayStation

PS5 will get its first taste of Master Chief with the release of Halo: Campaign Evolved, which doesn’t currently have a release date but is due out in 2026. Microsoft has said it is planning to bring Halo to Nintendo and, at some point, Call of Duty.
