Congratulations to Microsoft and Activision Blizzard on the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 on PlayStation. The PlayStation ports launched last week and immediately shot to the top of the PS Store charts, beating GTA 6 pre-orders and College Football 27.

While this is great news for Microsoft, users are paying $40 per piece for this game port. The release has had its share of issues with the launch. To start with, questions about crossplay with PS4 and PS5, which users were not sure about, have now been addressed.

PS4 and PS5 players are able to matchmake with one another. There is no cross-platform play with PS3 or other hardware platforms.
Also, Season Pass owners are able to matchmake with non-Season Pass owners in both titles.

The other issue hacks were figured out and were used to compromise both Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2, allowing players to cheat in their online multiplayer modes. Which was addressed as well.

Both of these games were destined to take off from the start. These older Call of Duty games are nostalgia for the old games that users loved to play. To younger gamers who were not old enough to play these now classic installments. On top of that, I think the other thing helping with the sales of these games is a lackluster year for the new Call of Duty release, which was not well received by players.
