EBay’s sales climbed 18% to $3.9 billion in revenue during the fourth fiscal quarter, up from $3.4 billion during the same period a year earlier.  EBay is happy about the jump claiming it was due to doubling digit user growth across its portfolio as well as strong gains in mobile adoption.  EBay mobile has doubled its transaction volume over the previous-year period.

The fourth quarter is always the best for online shopping companies as bargain-hunting holiday shoppers flocked to EBay’s Internet shopping mall and PayPal’s digital payment service.  The results announced Wednesday served as the exclamation point on the best year yet for eBay in the company’s 18 year history.

EBay hopes to continue its growth by focusing on the expansion of EBay and PayPal services in countries like Brazil, India, Russia and China.
