  • Oracle (NYSE: ORCL) CTO and Chairman, Larry Ellison, today unveiled the world’s first automated enterprise cloud application upgrade product that will enable Oracle customers to reduce the time and cost of cloud migration by up to 30 percent. By providing a complete set of automated tools and proven cloud transition methodologies, the new “Soar to the Cloud” solution enables customers with applications running on premises to upgrade to Oracle Cloud Applications in as little as 20 weeks. “It’s now easier to move from Oracle E-Business Suite to Oracle Fusion ERP in the cloud, than it is to upgrade from one version of E-Business Suite to another,” said Ellison. “A lot of tedious transitions that people once did manually are now automated. If you choose Oracle Soar, it will be the last upgrade you’ll ever do.” Oracle Oracle is trying to compete with Microsoft. Oracle and IBM are two companies that are having a hard time transitioning to new business model.
  • LinkedIn today announced carousel ads for Sponsored Content that will allow marketers to add texture to their stories by featuring multiple photos that LinkedIn members can horizontally swipe through on their feed. During the beta testing of this new format, over 300 advertisers, including HP Enterprise, RBC, and Volvo Canada used carousel ads to tell different stories. LinkedIn mentioned that more than 75 percent of beta advertisers said that they will use carousel ads in their next campaign due to increased engagement and click-through rates.     C# Console UWP Applications

    We’ve just published an update to the Console UWP App project templates on the Visual Studio marketplace here. The latest version (v1.5) adds support for C#. The C# template code only works with Visual Studio 2017 version 15.7 or later. In a previous post, I described how to build a simple findstr UWP app using the C++ Console templates. In this post, we’ll look at how to achieve the same with C#, and call out a few additional wrinkles you should be aware of. Having installed the updated VSIX, you can now choose a C# Console UWP App from the New Project dialog: Microsoft I will say it again Visual Studio has come a long way.

  • It was a little over a year ago, that I broke the news that Microsoft had stopped the development of HoloLens V2 and was pushing forward to V3. Since then, I have been asked about a million times for more information about the upcoming device but if you know where to look, the company is developing the hardware in broad daylight. Based on documents I was able to view, Microsoft is still targeting a Q1 release of the next gen headset. Additionally, the company is referring to the project internally as Sydney.
