I wanted an external truck antenna for better distance and reception. Plus I like the look of it. I got great antenna at Hamfest On Saturday June 2 not a bad magnetic external for $20.00. I find my reception and range are way better then the rubber ducky I was using that came with my handheld. Then I bought an adapter “SMA” to “PL-259” Adapter Cable from a guy at the ham fest selling adapters. I like to keep my business local if I can. But amazon does sell them if need be
